INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON BIODIVERSITY and Edible Wild Species 

Welcome to the homepage of the International Symposium on Biodiversity and Edible Wild Species (BEWS2017)

The International Symposium on Biodiversity and Edible Wild Species (BEWS2017) will be held on 3-5 April 2017 in Antalya. The symposium is organized by General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies (TAGEM) in collaboration with the Biodiversity for Food and Nutrition Project (BFN-GEF/UNEP/FAO) and BFN Turkey.
BEWS2017 covers all aspects including plant biodiversity and focuses on wild edibles. The Symposium aims to bring researchers, scientists and plant breeders together for sharing advances and establish new collaborations. It will also provide a scientific platform for sharing ideas and lessons learned on the conservation and use of wild edibles as well as raise awareness of the results and Turkey experiences of BFN. TAGEM also expects to build a new perspective for the utilization and conservation of plant biodiversity.
Keynote Speakers of BEWS2017 are Prof.Dr. Adil Güner from Nezahat Gökyiğit Botanic Garden (Director), Prof.Dr. Klaus Mummenhoff from University of Osnabrück, Prof.Dr. Vedat Ceyhan from Ondokuz Mayıs University, Dr. Gerald Parolly from Botanischer Garten und Botanisches Museum Berlin-Dahlem (Curator, Mediterranean and Temperate Living Collections) and Dr. Nigel Maxted from University of Birmingham .
The Symposium is organized in one of Turkey's most beautiful and historic cities, and offers a rich program for informal social interaction, including a welcome reception, gala dinner and a closing ceremony. We hope to see you in Antalya.
